Research Notes on Adult ADHD Self Report Scale

A self report scale is available to help screen adults for ADHD. The ADHD Self-Report Scale was a joint initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Workgroup on Adult ADHD. It is intended for individuals eighteen and older to determine if existing conditions are consistent with ADHD.1 It follows the guidelines of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) established by the American Psychiatric Association.

Fast Facts:

  • The questionnaire consists of eighteen questions. A score of eleven or higher on the scale indicates symptoms are consistent with ADHD.1
  • A quick six question screen is available online which is a smaller version of the the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale.2
  • Adult ADHD symptoms include trouble focusing, inability to complete tasks, and concentration problems.1
