Research Notes on Adriamycin and Pregnancy
An antineoplastic medication, Adriamycin is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless there is no other viable option for the mother. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has listed Adriamycin as a category D drug, indicating that it is known to cause fetal harm when used during pregnancy. Should you become pregnant during Adriamycin treatment, inform your physician immediately.1

- Adriamycin is a brand name of the medication doxorubicin.2
- Adraimycin is known to pass through the breast milk of breastfeeding mothers. Your physician may recommend you switch to bottle feeding until your Adriamycin treatment regimen is over.2
