Research Notes on Addiction Recovery and the Jellinek Chart
The Jellinek Chart of Alcoholism and Recovery was created by Dr. E. M. Jellinek during the 1940's and 50's.1 The chart details how an alcoholic progresses throughout recovery. The first phase on the chart is a desire for help, followed by 31 additional phases.2

- Was originally distributed by the Alcoholism Council of Greater Los Angeles.1
- The chart also describes the stages of alcoholism as an addiction.3
