Research Notes on Adderall
Adderall is a brand name amphetamine-based drug used in varying doses to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. Side effects can include weight loss, dry mouth, anxiety, and addiction. Adderall is composed of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.

- In the United States, Adderall use is discouraged among patients with a history of mental illness or drug abuse.
- There is a growing concern that teenagers are abusing the use of Adderall. Some reasons that teenagers are abusing Adderall are for better concentration, to lose weight, and to get a "high".
- According to a private prescription auditing firm, IMS Health, amphetamine prescriptions, primarily Adderall, have increased dramatically -- from 1.3 million in 1996 to nearly 6 million in 1999.
