A brand name drug for doxepin, Adapin can cause withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and nausea when it is discontinued suddenly.1 Patients who have taken Adapin over a long period of time should avoid stopping the medication abruptly.2 Other symptoms resulting from Adapin withdrawal include restlessness, rapid heart rate, and high blood pressure.2
