Research Notes on Acupuncture
Acupuncture, the practice of which originated over 2000 years ago, is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. The technique utilizes fine needles that are placed at specific locations in the body called meridians. This is supposed to unblock the ‘qi’, or energy, and restore balance to the body. In 1996, the FDA required that practitioners use only sterile, non-toxic needles on their patients. Studies have often yielded promising results.
