Research Notes on Acuprin 81 Uses
Acuprin 81 is used for the treatment of many types of pain such as headaches, arthritis, aching muscles, and aching teeth.1 Acuprin 81 can also be used to reduce inflammation in joints. Fever can be lowered with Acuprin 81, but it should not be given to a child or teenager that has a fever, especially if he/she has chicken pox or flu symptoms as it can cause severe damage to the brain and liver, and even death (Reye's syndrome).2 Acuprin 81 is often prescribed to patients that has suffered a heart attack or stroke to help prevent another from occurring.3

- Acuprin 81 is a brand name for aspirin.4
- If a patient experiences symptoms such as internal bleeding from the stomach or intestines coughing up blood or vomiting, stop taking Acuprin 81 and consult a doctor immediately.3
- Acuprin 81 should not be taken in conjunction with ibuprofen unless prescribed by a physician, as ibuprofen may make aspirin less likely to protect the heart and blood vessels.2
- A patient should not take Acuprin 81 if he/she is allergic to aspirin.1
