Research Notes on Actifed Side Effects
Common side effects associated with Actifed usage include: blurred vision, dry mouth, insomnia, and ringing in the ears. These side effects are not considered serious; however, you should consult with your physician if they appear to become worse or are extremely bothersome to you. Some side effects require emergency medical attention. Should you experience a fast, pounding heartrate, hallucinations, unusual bleeding, or a decrease in urination, stop using Actifed and contact your physician immediately.1
Fast Facts:
- Although rare, it is possible to be allergic to Actifed. Skin rash, itching or swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing are all signs of a serious allergic reaction.2
- Not everyone who uses Actifed will develop side effects, and some may experience side effects not listed here.
- Actifed is a combination of the two medications triprolidine and pseudoephedrine. It is used as an antihistamine and decongestant to relieve allergy and cold symptoms.1
