Research Notes on Actifed Dosage
The standard dosage for Actifed is one tablet every four to six hours.1 Actifed is used to treat nasal congestion, sneezing, cold symptoms, and allergy symptoms.1 Actifed is not intended for long-term use, and if symptoms do not improve within seven days, you should contact your physician.2
Fast Facts:
- Actifed is not recommended for children under the age of four.2
- Taking Actifed with food or milk can decrease the likelihood of stomach upset. It should always be taken with a full glass of water.3
- Unless you are taking chewable tablets, do not chew, crush, or break Actifed tablets, as this can decrease the effectiveness of the drug and increase side effects.3
- Actifed is a brand name for the combination drug triprolidine and pseudoephedrine.
