An acoustic neuroma can be treated in a number of ways including conservative treatment, surgery, and radiation therapy.1 The conservation treatment usually starts with a “wait and see” period to track the tumor’s growth.1 Removal of the tumor is done through various methods including microsurgery, and radiation therapy which slows or stops tumor growth.1

  • 45% of acoustic neuromata do not grow detectably over the 3-5 years of observation.1
  • Tumor growth is usually monitored using an MRI.1
