Research Notes on Acid Reflux and Women

Acid reflux or heartburn can be common in women especially during pregnancy. It can be attributed to hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy which can loosen the esophageal sphincter and predispose women to acid reflux. Also, later in pregnancy the growing fetus can cause pressure in the stomach and esophagus causing indigestion and acid reflux.
