Research Notes on Acceptable Levels of Triglycerides
Normal triglyceride levels are important to your health. The acceptable level for triglycerides is below 150 mg/dL.1 Triglyceride levels between 150 to 199 mg/dL are considered borderline high.2 Proper diet and exercise will help you keep normal triglyceride levels. If diet and exercise are not enough, a doctor may prescribe medication such as statins to help lower your levels.1
Fast Facts:
- When you have excess amounts of triglycerides in your system it is called hypertriglyceridemia.3
- Triglyceride levels that are 200 to 499 mg are considered high and 500 mg/dL or above is considered very high.2
