Acarbose is the generic name for Precose. Acarbose is an anti-diabetic drug used alone or along with diet to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Acarbose works by slowing down the enzyme that turns carbohydrates into glucose; this decreases blood sugar levels following a meal. For more information, see the Precose WisdomeCard.
