The acai berry has existed for thousands of years in the Amazon and in the early 1990s the berry made its way to the West.1 The acai berry is dark red in color and its similiar to a dark purple grape, but it has less pulp and a larger seed.2 The berry, especially the berry’s skin, is high in antioxidants.2 Acai is also full of fiber, iron, and amino acids, all beneficial to the human body2
