Research Notes on Abortion
Abortion means ending a pregnancy. Most abortions are done in the first trimester (the first 3 months of the pregnancy). Abortion is controversial and divisive in political and religious arenas. Those who oppose abortion refer to themselves as "pro-life," while those who believe it should remain legally available call themselves "pro-choice."
