Research Notes on Abnormal Pap Smear
A pap smear is a screening method to detect abnormalities in the cervix or endometrium. Women who are sexually active are advised to get a pap smear once a year. An abnormal pap smear means that the doctor found some abnormal changes in your cervix. This could be any number of things, so when you have an abnormal pap smear your doctor will usually schedule a follow-up such as a colposcopy exam.
