Research Notes on Abilify Effects
The effect of Abilify on the body is similar to other antipsychotics. Abilify blocks receptors on the nerves of the brain for several neurotransmitters. The effects on these receptors are complicated, and how Abilify actually works is unknown.1
Fast Facts:
- Abilify is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and episodes of mania associated with bipolar disorder.2
- Aripiprazole (Abilify) can also be used with an antidepressant, if the antidepressant alone cannot control depression.2
- Abilify is available in 10, 15, 20, and 30 mg tablets.1
