Abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery repairs the results of an aortic aneurysm which is the bulging portion of the aorta where the vessel walls are weakened.1 Patients that are scheduled to have surgery should discuss which procedure is best for them with their doctor. The abdominal aorta is located behind the diaphragm in the abdominal region of the body. The aorta provides the body with oxygen rich blood and has the risk of rupture when enlarged.
