Research Notes on Abatacept Dosage
The dose of abatacept that you are prescribed depends on several factors including your weight and other medications you are taking.1 If you weigh less than 132 pounds, the initial dose of abatacept you may be prescribed will be 500 milligrams.1 If you weigh 132-220 pounds, your doctor may prescribe 750 milligrams of abatacept.1
Fast Facts:
- Abatacept -- also marketed as the brand name Orencia -- is used to slow the progression of rheumatoid arthritis.2
- If you weigh more than 200 pounds, your doctor may prescribe 1000 milligrams of abatacept.1
- Given intravenously, the first three doses of abatacept will be given every two weeks.2
