Abacavir can cause severe hypersensitivity reactions in patients with HIV. Approximately 80% of patients sensitive to Abacavir develop fever. Common symptoms of sensitivity to the drug may also include skin rash, headache and stomach upset (nausea, vomiting and stomach pain).
