Research Notes on Abacavir Interactions
Abacavir is a antiviral drug prescribed as part of the “drug cocktail” in the treatment of HIV. It may interact with several medications such as Methadone, Ribavirin and Ganciclovir. It is very important to avoid alcohol while taking Abacavir because it may increase the drug level in the blood, thus putting the patient more at risk of side effects.
