Research Notes on ADHD and Tourette Syndrome
About half of children and young people with Tourette syndrome also have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).1 One 10-year study showed that 40% of Tourette patients do not have ADHD or other disorders.2
Fast Facts:
- Sometimes the medication used to treat ADHD can make Tourette syndrome worse.3
- People with Tourette syndrome may also have depression, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive disorder.4
- There are no specific tests used to diagnose ADHD.1
