Research Notes on ADHD Linked to Sleep Problems in Adolescents


Researchers say that children who suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are two to three times more likely to also suffer from insomnia and other sleep disorders. It is believed that treating the sleep disorder may help to reduce ADHD symptoms, as a lack of restful sleep can exacerbate hyperactivity. Without treatment, researchers say, children suffering from sleep disorders and ADHD are at a higher risk of developing other conditions.1
