Research Notes on ADHD Drug Abuse On the Rise
According to a new study, the abuse of prescription medications for ADHD is growing at an alarming rate. Next to marijuana, prescription medications are the most used drugs among teenagers to get high. Over an eight year span, poison control calls regarding ADHD medication use have gone up 76%.1

- Most teens use their medications appropriately, but with the growing popularity of these drugs many teens now have access to the medicine.2
- The two commonly prescribed types of ADHD drugs are methylphenidates and amphetamines.2
- This study is published in the August 2009 journal Pediatrics.
