Research Notes on ADHD Combined Type
ADHD combined type is a combination of inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive behaviors.1 Individuals may exhibit inattentive behaviors that include an inability to concentrate, inability to stay on task, easily distracted, forgetful, and a tendency to not listen. Hyperactive behavior, impulsivity, fidgeting, blurting out, talking excessively, interrupting, and an always "on the go" demeanor are other aspects of the combined type.2
Fast Facts:
- ADHD is a neurobehavioral disorder and affects approximately five to fifteen percent of school-aged children.3
- To be diagnosed with ADHD, behaviors must be present for at least six month and be severe enough to disrupt school and home life.2
- Most children with ADHD are diagnosed with the combined type of ADHD.4
