Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, it is also available to take as a supplement.1 One of the primary functions of melatonin is to regulate the circadian rhythm which maintains the body's sleep-wake cycle.1 Those who suffer from ADHD often find that the medications that are used to control the disorder have unwanted side effects that include insomnia.2 While melatonin does not control the symptoms of ADHD, research shows that melatonin supplements does shorten the amount of time it takes for ADHD patients to fall asleep.3
