Research Notes on ACL Surgery Compilations
ACL surgery is performed to repair or reconstruct a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).1 Similar to any other surgical procedures, ACL surgery is not without complications. Some of the minor complications are bleeding, infection, and numbness around the site of incision.2
Fast Facts:
- More serious complications are virulent infections, fracture of the kneecap or thighbone or rupture or failure of the graft.2
- The success rate for ACL surgery is about 90%.3
- Technical error is believed to be the most common reason for failure of ACL reconstruction.4
- The length of time for healing after surgery varies from person to person.1
