ACE inhibitors (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme) are a class of drug used to treat hypertension and congestive heart failure. ACE inhibitors are medications that slow (inhibit) the activity of the enzyme angiotensin, which decreases the production of angiotensin II. As a result, the blood vessels enlarge, and the blood pressure is reduced.
