Research Notes on 4-Way
4-Way is a brand of nasal spray products used to relieve nasal congestion caused by allergies, colds, hay fever, and sinusitis.1 4-Way works best when you blow your nose before using. You should wait three to five minutes after using 4-Way before attempting to blow your nose again. Always rinse the tip of the bottle in hot water after using 4-Way to avoid spreading infection.2
Fast Facts:
- Side effects can occur with the use of 4-Way products. Commonly reported side effects include headache, insomnia, and nasal dryness. Serious side effects are relatively rare, but they should be reported to your physician right away. Serious side effects include: lightheadedness, tremors, irregular heart beat, chest pain, seizure, blurred vision, and tingling in the hands and feet.2
- Children may be more sensitive to the effects of 4-Way. Pregnant women should speak with their physician before using 4-Way as it has not been studied in pregnant women.2
- 4-Way is available in various varieties, including 12-Hour2, Moisturizing, Fast Acting, Menthol, and Saline.3
- The active ingredient varies depending on the variety.
